Lynne Tapper | Neurodiversity Coach and Trainer
Coach and Neurodiversity Trainer specialising in supporting neurodivergent adults and the people they work and live alongside.
I am an ICF PCC coach and Neurodiversity Trainer specializing in working with neurodivergent people and the key people in their lives, including family and colleagues.
As a coach, I work with people to help them develop a greater understanding and acceptance of their differences so that they can work towards the things in life that are important to them professionally and personally.
My professional background is in Speech and Language Therapy and I have a particular interest in working with people to help them think about their communication to self and others.
I worked for 25 years as an NHS Speech and Language Therapist, specialising for 17 years in supporting deaf adults. I trained in coaching to better support my clients, and after completing a PG Certificate in Coaching in 2019, I began working with autistic adults.
As I worked with more autistic clients, I noticed how often autism and ADHD co-occurred. The more I learned about ADHD, the more I recognised those traits in myself. When a colleague asked me what was stopping me from having an assessment, it was the catalyst I needed to confirm my ADHD.
I went on to complete specialist ADHD coach training with ADDCA and Gold Mind Academy. I’m now part of the faculty at Gold Mind Academy, a UK-based ADHD coach training organisation.
About My Coaching
My ADHD diagnosis came in 2023, years after my oldest son was identified as autistic and around the same time my youngest daughter discovered she was autistic too. I’m married to a self diagnosed autistic man, and we’re a proudly neurodiverse family.
For most of my life, I didn’t think ADHD applied to me because I didn’t fit the stereotypes. I was the quiet, daydreamy child who would start plenty of things but rarely finish them. With hindsight, the patterns were all there.
Learning I was neurodivergent helped me understand that things like missing details or forgetting arrangements weren’t moral failings. They were executive functioning differences. I also came to understand my own “spiky profile”: the spiky mix of strengths and challenges that are common for neurodivergent people.
Before my diagnosis, I assumed the things I found easy must be easy for everyone. Now I know how important it is to recognise and lean into strengths, and this is something I love supporting my clients to discover in themselves too.
My Neurodivergent Story
I work with:
- Autistic and ADHD adults, including self diagnosed people
- People navigating life transitions, such as starting a new role, moving home, or stepping into leadership
- People considering whether to pursue an autism or ADHD diagnosis
- Adults recently diagnosed who want to understand what this means for them
- Neurodivergent professionals stepping into management positions
I love working with anyone who is deeply curious about themselves and wants to understand how they can support their wellbeing, confidence, and growth.
Who I Work With
Being neurodivergent in a world that isn’t designed with you in mind can be challenging and tiring. My coaching supports people to build the confidence, self-awareness, and self-regulation they need to stay connected to what matters most to them.
I have a particular interest in communication differences, and I support clients to think about how they express themselves with others, whether that’s at work or socially.
I usually work remotely via Zoom or phone, and can offer in-person sessions in Leeds, West Yorkshire. My coaching hours are 10.00 to 17.00, Monday to Thursday (UK time)
How I Work
I offer bespoke neurodiversity training for:
- Individual managers supporting neurodivergent colleagues
- Workplace teams wanting to understand more about neurodiversity and working with differences
- Organisations aiming to build more inclusive environments for neurodivergent employees
Neurodiversity Training
Like many ADHDers, I’m someone who loves a new challenge. Last year I learned to weightlift and crochet, and I’ve just returned from climbing Ben Nevis with my family. I’m currently studying for a postgraduate certificate in Autism at Sheffield Hallam.
